Our daughter Beth is returning today from her 3-week trip to Guatemala, the land where she grew up. This is her second time back, and this time she volunteered with a Helps, Int'l medical team to do translation. They went out to the village of Uspantan, in the Quiche district. According to her Facebook posts, she had a fun and fulfilling time. I can't wait to hear the stories!!!
We were notified last week that our jobs with Wycliffe are changing. Jeanette and I are to be working with 2 different recruit 'sourcing' teams, and it sounds like we'll be working more on a national level and less on a local level. So we're not sure how long we can continue with all the good things we've started in Spokane, including Wycliffe dessert nights, personal recruiting at Moody and other schools in the area, local missions conferences, and the Perspectives (Missions) course that we have coordinated since 2009. Things are still developing, so as soon as we know more I'll post it here.
We have asked our supervisors if it's possible that we could work together instead of being involved in 2 separate teams, and we'll see what they say. God is in charge, and we're very thankful for our other team members.
We've worked a bit on the planning for our housing addition and made some progress in that department. Right now we have a layout staked out on our virtual lawn (no grass yet), and it's kind of fun visualizing how everything fits together. You just can't get a very good feel from looking at a piece of paper with lines on it, so this has really helped. Our goal is to get some more space for an office for Jeanette, who currently does all her work on the dining room table. Also, we'd like to have some more space for people to come and visit, and stay over. :)
If you'd like to know more about our plans and the job changes, just let me know!
Blessings,
Chris.
